PRESS STATEMENT
5th September, 2021
The Tribal populace of Churachandpur District stands strong against the Anti-Tribal attitudes of the Biren-led Government of Manipur. The non-tabling of the HAC Bill, 2021 and the subsequent moved to include 9 (nine) valley MLAs in the HAC, in contravention to Article 371C of the Indian Constitution and Ruls of business of the State Assembly is a total anti tribal.
That, we the student bodies/associations in Churachandpur District today held a meeting at KSO CCPUR’s Office and adopted a resolution to declare "Non-Cooperation" on the Government of Manipur until the HAC Bill is passed and the order to include 9 (nine) valley MLAs in the Hill Area Committee (HAC) by the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly is revoked, we can’t afford to witness the hypocritical display of this government double standard towards tribal people.
Therefore, we appeal the general public of Churachandpur not to attend the launching of "Go to Village 2.0" by state government scheduled to be organised tomorrow, 6th September 2021, at Peace Ground, Tuibong to show our resentment.
